What Is a Covenant Church?

The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a growing family of churches in the United States, Canada and around the world. It was founded by Swedish immigrants in 1885 as a voluntary covenant of churches committed to working together to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Covenant churches emphasize the Bible's witness to new life in Jesus Christ expressed in a day to day walk with the Lord. We are:

Evangelical, but not exclusive.

Biblical, but not doctrinaire.

Traditional, but not rigid.

bullet

Congregational, but not independent.

The Covenant Mission

We are united by Christ in a holy covenant of churches empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the Great Commandments and the Great Commission:

to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind

to love our neighbor as ourselves

bullet

to go into all the world and make disciples.

A Word About Our Faith

We believe in the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct.

 

The Word of God is "Spirit and Life" and therefore requires of us a spiritual and living response. This response involves a commitment to the person of Jesus Christ and a dedication to follow him as Lord.

 

Our church recognizes but transcends theological differences through the sharing of a common life in Christ.

We hold to and observe the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

 

We believe in the gospel for the whole person and the whole world. Such concern for wholeness finds expression in evangelism, in Christian education, and in the missionary task, which includes the community in which our church is located.

 

We welcome into membership all who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. 

The Covenant Logo

The Covenant logo signifies four people reaching out yet unified by a circle of fellowship - symbolic of evangelism and unity in Christ. These elements combine to form a cross.

Camping

Camping ministries are emphasized throughout the ECC. Our Central Conference of Churches owns and operates 2 camps.
